Graham Calder
Founder & Chief Designer, P3 Permaculture
With over 16 years of hands-on experience, I founded P3 Permaculture in 2009, driven by my passion for sustainable design. After earning my Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) and apprenticing with Geoff Lawton at the Permaculture Research Institute, I set out to make a real impact.
Since then, I've certified 375+ students and led transformative projects in 9 countries. From designing urban gardens in Montréal to creating large-scale systems in the deserts of China, I've tackled diverse challenges and environments. Whether it's the lush tropical forests of Costa Rica or the dry landscapes of Cameroon, my work is always tailored to the local context and aimed at practical, sustainable solutions.
I’m deeply committed to developing courses and projects that inspire action and accelerate the shift to regenerative, resilient systems, creating a lasting, positive change for our world.

Liza Charbel
Co-Founder, Jardins sans Frontières
After 10 years in the corporate world in Dubai, I moved to Montréal to pursue an MBA, which ignited my passion for social innovation and personal growth. In 2011, I co-founded Gardens without Borders after earning my Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) with P3 Permaculture.
Since then, I’ve led community gardening projects across Montréal, Ecuador, Senegal, and Lebanon, blending food sustainability, social change, and creative expression. I also incorporate geobiology, art, and spirituality into the spaces I create.
As a mother, I’m passionate about using permaculture for education, parenting, and reimagining urban life, inspiring others to adopt regenerative practices for a sustainable future.

Laura Wesley, 2024
I attended two workshops with Graham (so far!) He knows a lot about ecological design and is so generous in sharing his knowledge, contacts, equipment and ideas! I learned so so much. His workshops are informative, interactive, fun and hands-on. Exactly the kind of setting in which I learn best!

David ,2024
This 5-day practicum at L'Alpakiade was a true turning point for me. I was able to apply theoretical knowledge in practice and gain real skills in working with the land. The inspiring instructors, great team, and hands-on experience on an active farm gave me confidence in my abilities.
